Coach Jack Ferrill and the LUHSD Athletic Hall of Fame
The Vision of Coach Jack Ferrill
Coach Jack Ferrill was inspired by his experience as a member of the University of the Pacific Athletic Hall of Fame. In 1991, he conceived the idea of establishing a similar athletic hall of fame for the Liberty Union High School District. His goal was to create an induction dinner with all the grandeur and excitement that would match the University of the Pacific’s Hall of Fame celebration.
The First Induction and Organizational Foundation
In the spring of 1992, Ferrill’s vision came to life when the first class was inducted into the LUHSD Athletic Hall of Fame. This milestone marked the beginning of a tradition dedicated to honoring outstanding athletic achievements within the district.
On January 25th, 1993, the bylaws for the nonprofit organization named Liberty Union High School District Athletic Hall of Fame were officially signed. This formal act established the Hall of Fame as a recognized entity dedicated to celebrating athletic excellence.
